InterAct Mobile Application Increases Officer Safety on National Wildlife Refuges
September 29, 2011
InterAct’s Mobile solutions, including PocketCop, are being used every day by refuge officers of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. “Using PocketCop doesn’t tie up the radio and gives you the instant access you need to run criminal history, prison history, plate history, etc.,” Officer David Nicely said in a recent agency newsletter article. “Suppose you run across someone and something in the back of your mind says ‘hmm, this isn’t right.’ Now officers can walk away, get to a safe distance, do any background check, and make the situation safer.”
Refuge officers access federal and state data sources through the InterAct Law Enforcement Data Delivery Service (ILEDDS), a cloud-based hosting service powered by Nlets, a non-profit organization supported by all fifty states. With ILEDDS any federal agency can deliver more information to its officers, agents and investigators in the field more quickly and at less cost. Click here to read the entire article.
