InterAct Fire

Solutions for Fire Departments

When responding to a fire emergency, every moment is precious. Yet the challenges of swift fire response are overwhelming. Fire dispatchers must quickly identify the appropriate response protocols from myriad choices, locate the right emergency responders and equipment, and direct them to the scene.

This is no easy feat. Not all stations house the same equipment or are equipped to respond to the same types of events. Moreover, operating procedures vary not only from station to station but even within regions of a town. And when faced with rapidly changing, high pressure situations, it’s tough to keep track of resources in the field.

An integrated call-taker / dispatcher workstation including InterAct NG9-1-1, InterAct CAD, and InterAct GIS speeds turnout time by taking the guesswork out of fire dispatch. With this flexible software, you can preset response plans based on criteria such as the event code, incident location, and responding department(s). Dispatchers can also be given the ability to make changes to dispatched units and alarms on the fly. This way, dispatchers have the information and guidance necessary to quickly get the right emergency personnel and equipment to the scene.
Firemen and paramedics have real-time access to critical data to determine a plan of attack before they arrive on scene when equipped with InterAct Mobile on a laptop or tablet. And reports can be submitted from the field without having to reenter any data with the InterAct Fire field reporting and fire records management system.

With the InterAct Connections Framework, you can:

  • Dispatch all units at the touch of a button
  • Instantly send preplans, site hazards, structure information, and other critical data to firemen as they race to the scene
  • Improve response times with up-to-the-moment mapping instructions
  • Optimize available resources through cross-manning
  • Alleviate vulnerabilities through support of equipment move-ups (temporary relocation of fire and ambulance equipment to cover an area)
  • Update emergency personnel with key data such as a broken hydrant, road closure, or hospital diversion
  • Produce statistics to support decision making such as identifying bottlenecks and justifying new hires
  • Update incident status in real time to prevent duplicate dispatching

InterAct Fire is a robust, enterprise-class, fully integrated system of modules that offer complete management of fire prevention, suppression, and EMS patient information. InterAct Fire’s modules can be used separately, but are all tightly integrated with each other.

System-wide Features:

Security – Users are placed into groups based on their "rights" level. Access and control of data can be managed by "security profiles" that are attributed to individual users or groups based on personnel classifications.

GEO-verification provides the ability to substantiate an address against the city or county’s master address segment file. Doing so ensures that any addresses entered in the InterAct Fire system exactly match the numbers and characters of the authoritative database of street segments, cross streets, etc. Geo-verifying is a quick step to verify an entered address or location is consistent with those already stored in the system.

Master Names, Master Locations and Master Organizations are the backbone of an efficient FRMS. InterAct’s comprehensive Master Indices include custom-built Master Name and Master Location databases that are accessible throughout the InterAct Fire system. These modules provide "master" databases to store and use names and addresses with consistency and accuracy. Master Organizations allows you to build a database of commonly used vendors or other businesses.

Mobile solution – InterAct Fire offers a full desktop in the field for easy portability. InterAct Fire synchronizes data from multiple laptops so that all users access the most current data. Take your fire pre-plans in the truck for immediate access to all your data including drawings, photos, video and audio. Review full inspection history and enter new fire inspection information on site.

E-Signature – InterAct Fire provides the ability to have a legally binding (per the e-sign bill signed into law in 1997) signature on any of the InterAct Fire "inline" reports. This can be done on reports generated by the InterAct Fire software such as Fire Inspections and EMS.

True attachments – File attachments in the FRMS are stored so that the data is secure and will remain a permanent part of that particular report. Attachments are stored within the FRMS database.

Key Features:

Enterprise class – Multi-department, multi-jurisdictional system – InterAct designed and built InterAct Fire from the ground up to be a multi-agency, multi-user system that allows multiple agencies to share the same FRMS database
Microsoft Windows platform

Icon-based, easy-to-navigate, scalable user interface Web Access -
With a Virtual Private Network (VPN), or Terminal Services, a secure and fully functional connection can be established to access the FRMS through a web browser. Using the same 128-bit encryption those financial intuitions and the military use (highest level of protection available); the security of the FRMS data is not compromised. With a high-speed internet connection there is virtually no difference in speed or functionality when working through a secure VPN.

CAD Integration -
InterAct’s software is fully interfaced with many CAD systems, including InterAct CAD, providing automatic transfer of run times for NFIRS and EMS run reports. InterAct Fire provides Geo-verification of all site addresses with CAD’s Geofile. Using InterAct Fire’s Master Indices, store complete addresses that have been Geo-verified. The use of Master Locations reduces errors and is beneficial when preparing accurate reports.

Search facility
This feature allows users, with appropriate access and authority, to search and inquire across incidents (or other records) based on specific criteria including multiple agencies. Users can easily search within modules and save their searches by name for one-click access to that search in the future. To take the Search one step further – Search results may be printed as a report or exported to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, HTML, or PDF providing an ad-hoc reporting based on certain criteria meeting selected fields and date ranges.

Navigation
The familiar, user-friendly Windows format makes it simple to navigate through, even for the novice user. Within each module is a button bar of icons that let the user quickly move through different sections of a task or report. InterAct Fire also allows users to be in different modules simultaneously, if needed.

NFIRS 5 compliant -
InterAct Fire automatically checks data entered against NFIRS 5 rules to make sure all fields in all reports are valid and complete.

NEMSIS Gold and HIPAA Compliant -
InterAct provides a database that is based on the NEMSIS Gold standards for reporting. Within HIPAA compliance limits, EMS data can be transferred to the admitting hospital as a printed report, a data export or a Billing export interface.

nterActFire is designed to meet your fire and EMS needs, tailored just for you. This fully integrated system of modules offers complete management of fire prevention and suppression and EMS patient information. InterAct Fire provides a user-friendly way to access all modules, providing easy navigation with familiar Windows interface.

Fire Portability Solution - InterAct Fire can be started with an office LAN and moved to laptops or tablets for the ultimate portability. Take your fire pre-plans to the truck for immediate access to all your data including drawings, photos, video and audio. Review full inspection history and enter new fire inspection
information on site, with VulcanFBR. InterAct’s software is available on Tablet PCs.

Microsoft Windows Integration - Designed from the ground up to work with Mircrosoft™ Windows™, InterAct Fire is a fast and robust 32-bit application. Back at the office, InterAct Fire is a multi-user and multi-department application using Windows SQL Server, which provide enterprise-level database support.

Single or Multi-departmental - Single or multi-departmental agencies can use InterAct Fire with ease. The system allows for each agency to complete their own reports. Supervisors can easily review completed reports and approve or send the report back to the report creator for rework.

CAD Integration
InterAct Fire allows for a seamless integration with InterAct’s computer aided dispatch (CAD) system. Integration into InterAct CAD is one critical component that enhances InterAct Fire’s efficiency and user-friendliness and allows for automatic transfer of run times for NFIRS and EMS run reports. Incident data such as the incident number, location, units, and
run times are electronically imported from CAD and do not require duplicate data entry. This data can also easily be imported into a FRMS report, allowing InterAct Fire to automatically populate the apparatus and personnel data with no user action required. This automatic and
efficient process saves time and reduces data entry errors.
