Andrew J. “Flip” Filipowski ![]() InterAct Executive Chairman, Andrew "Flip" Filipowski, is one of the world's most successful high-tech entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and industry visionaries. The former COO of Cullinet, the largest software company of the 1980's, was also the founder and CEO of PLATINUM technology, inc. Flip grew PLATINUM into the 8th largest software company in the world at the time of its sale to Computer Associates for $4 billion dollars, the largest such transaction for a software company at the time. Upside Magazine named him one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Information Technology and the Triad Business Journal recently named him as one of 2008's 75 Most Influential People in the Triad. A recipient of Entrepreneur of the Year Awards from both Ernst & Young and Merrill Lynch, Flip has also been awarded the Young President’s Organization Legacy Award and the Anti-Defamation League's Torch of Liberty award for his work fighting hate on the Internet. OperationsKen Souza Ken Souza brings more than 30 years of successful technical, sales and marketing experience, most recently as the General Manager of BIO-key’s Law Enforcement (LE) Division, where he was responsible for all aspects of the multi-million dollar business. Under his leadership the LE Division grew to be considered the national leader in mobile data for public safety with more than 1,200 customers/agencies across 46 states. Prior to BIO-key, he spent 4 years at EMC Corporation as Director of Industry Solutions and Americas Marketing, where he was responsible for the development, marketing and sale of value-added application solutions that increased corporate revenue associated with hardware sales. His background also includes a number of executive positions within the industry including 3 years as Vice President for the e-Commerce & Strategic Planning Enterprise Systems Group, Compaq Computer, where he developed Compaq’s e-Commerce engine and was responsible for delivering over $300M in revenue for the group. Prior to that he was part of the Digital/Compaq integration team involved in the multi-billion dollar Compaq acquisition of Digital. While at Digital for 10+ years he held positions as: Vice President of Worldwide Solutions Marketing Services and Training, where he was responsible for the successful launch of all product and training for the company; Director of Technology; Director of Workstations Sales; and Director of Competitive Strategies. In the early 1980's, Mr. Souza held sales and management positions with Hewlett Packard Enterprise System Group. His experience also includes executive positions with a venture funded MRP software company where he was responsible for increasing revenues by 250%. He has a BS in Economics & Finance with a minor in IT Technology from Bentley College/University. He has also attended a number of executive courses at Harvard, MIT and Babson College thought his career. Tim Bigwood ![]() Tim Bigwood is responsible for leading and managing InterAct Public Safety's Delivery team, which manages, assembles, delivers and installs all of InterAct's products. Mr. Bigwood brings to InterAct over ten years of leadership and technology expertise. Additionally, Mr. Bigwood brings to InterAct comprehensive knowledge around national and local public safety due his to work in National Defense and Homeland Security level, National Health/Bio-terrorism preparedness, and treatment initiatives down to the state, municipal and local levels. In 2007, Mr. Bigwood joined InterAct's Capture team to provide support for customers with funding and grant requests as well as coordinate implementation and post-sales activities. Prior to joining InterAct, he served as a program manager at Lockheed Martin where he managed the Division of the Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Mr. Bigwood also served as a Signal Officer and Paratrooper in the United States Army from 1998 to 2001. Mr. Bigwood holds a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Richmond and earned his commission through its ROTC program. Chad Brymer Chad Brymer is responsible for leading and managing InterAct's GIS team; a core group of professionals responsible for managing all aspects of GIS project management including; data services, training, customer support and product management. Mr. Brymer has over 15 years of industry leadership and GIS expertise and has managed over 500 GIS E-911 Public Safety projects. When Mr. Brymer joined InterAct in 1999 he was tasked with restructuring and growing the GIS division. In his tenure he implemented new methodologies that translated into increased revenue and an increase in overall customer satisfaction. Mr. Brymer started his GIS career with Wellsco, Inc., a leading services provider to the telecommunication industry. He then joined Network Design Engineering, a leader in 911 GIS M&A services, where he held key positions as project manager and GPS manager. Mr. Brymer has an aptitude for utilizing emerging technologies, coordinating between multiple agencies and delivering customer's the highest level of customer service resulting in successful GIS project implementation. Mr. Brymer holds a B.S. in Geography and minor in Sociology from the University of Central Arkansas. Jeff Jones ![]() Mr. Jones joined InterAct Public Safety Systems in 2007 and is responsible for leading InterAct's business development and channel partner initiatives. In this role, Mr. Jones focuses on creating new revenue through global and regional systems integrators, value-added resellers, and distributors. With a background that encompasses both the public and private sectors, he brings over 15 years in sales and business development, program management, and large solution delivery expertise to the team. Prior to joining InterAct, Jones served in various engineering and project management positions at Lockheed Martin and contributed to the sales growth and success of several software companies, including Enterworks, Inc. and SAS - the world's largest privately held software company. Mr. Jones holds a B.S. degree from the United States Naval Academy and served on active duty as a Naval Flight Officer. Marc Koffskey ![]() Steven J. McDowall ![]() As executive vice president of engineering, Mr. McDowall implements software development techniques to maximize the usability and stability of InterAct products. Since August 2003, he has managed the engineering efforts of InterAct’s crises management and communication software, MissionMode. From 2002-2003, Mr. McDowall acted as the chief operating officer of illumineX, inc., where he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the company in the areas of profit and loss, development, marketing initiatives, product direction and corporate strategies. Mr. McDowall managed the growth and success of PLATINUM technology, inc.’s desktop management division as vice president from 1998-1999. At PLATINUM, Mr. McDowall was a member of the Senior Architecture Board, which was responsible for the company’s overall technical direction. He has secured five patents pertaining to the area of software system architecture and he is also the co-creator of UUM SIGNET, which handles all Usenet connectivity issues between the Internet and the state of
Sales and MarketingPaul Tatro ![]() Paul Tatro brings a solid sales record and superior management skills to InterAct as EVP of Sales. Mr. Tatro provides leadership to business development and oversees the entire InterAct sales team. Prior to joining InterAct, Mr. Tatro was president of USA Operations at ClearPace Software Ltd. He has also spent time as an independent consultant with various companies to develop and implement the strategies and systems for sales and marketing, human resources, project management, customer support (CRM), and training. Tatro also previously served as CEO of Alterna Technology Group, president of International Operations for divine, inc., and executive vice president of international operations for PLATINUM technology, inc. where he grew the company's international presence in 52 countries, dramatically expanding international revenues to $350 million. Theodore J. "Ted" Collins ![]() As executive vice president of International operations, Mr. Collins is responsible for overseeing business development overseas. Mr. Collins has worked in the computer industry for 25 years, and has spent the past 17 exclusively working in software businesses.Prior to joining InterAct, Mr. Collins founded MissionMode Solutions, Inc. in 2003, a crisis management and communication system used globally by companies to execute and coordinate business continuity and emergency response plans. Fortune 500 companies in a wide variety of industries rely on MissionMode on a daily basis including airlines, retail chains, oil and gas exploration and refinement, financial institutions, nuclear plants and homeland security agencies as well as police, fire and EMT. Like InterAct Public Safety Systems, MissionMode is a member of the SilkRoad Equity family of companies based in Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Collins has also been a leader in many technology companies including, PLATINUM technology, OpinionWare, and Divine, Inc. Jennifer Filipowski ![]() Product and TechnologyMark Fetherolf ![]() Finance and AdministrationDoug Laux Doug Laux joined InterAct in January 2010, and is responsible for all financial operations of the company, including finance, reporting and accounting. Mr. Laux spent the first 20 years of his career with Ernst and Young, the last 9 as a partner in the Chicago office. He has extensive financial management experience with both public and private companies, including IPO experience as the CFO and COO of Platinum Entertainment, a NASDAQ listed music company he helped take public in 1996. Mr. Laux also has significant turn around, M&A, fund raising and SEC reporting and compliance experience, having been the CFO of several public and private companies, including ANC Rental Corporation the former $2.5 billion parent of Alamo and National Car Rental Companies. He also served as the CFO of EaglePicher, a $900 million diversified manufacturing company, and as CFO of Remy International, a $1.3 billion automotive supplier during their respective restructurings. Mr. Laux is currently a director and head of the audit committees of both Sirva, the parent of Allied and Northwest Van Lines, and Alpha Media Group, the publisher of Maxim Magazine. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, with a BS in Accountancy and a CPA. Anne Martin ![]() Ms. Martin joined InterAct Public Safety in 2005 holding a variety of positions in the finance department before becoming Chief Financial Officer. Immediately prior to joining the Company, Ms. Martin served as the chief financial officer for a community bank. Before that, she spent 13 years with Wachovia in the areas of commercial banking, cash management, and strategic planning. She received an MBA from Wake Forest University with a concentration in Finance. Ed McFarland Mr. McFarland joined InterAct Public Safety in 2003 holding a variety of positions in finance and administration. Immediately prior to joining the Company, Mr. McFarland served as president of a community bank. Before that, he spent a number of years with Wachovia including manager of corporate banking and strategic planning, and as regional executive. He received an AB from Davidson College and an MBA from The University of North Carolina.
